Open technical writing positions at BMC

BMC currently has two open technical writing positions that involve working

at the company's office in Tel Hai:

  • Staff Information Developer (5-8 years of technical writing experience)

  • Senior Information Developer (8+ years of technical writing experience)

For both positions, you will work closely with developers, quality

assurance engineers, technical support representatives, technical editors,

and other technical writers to document mainframe software in the IBM z/OS

environment. You will work onsite in BMC's Tel Hai office with local and

remote teams to gain a deep understanding of customer needs, and to provide

comprehensive product documentation.

Responsibilities include:

• Writing documentation in XML using DITA concepts

• Writing online help that will be delivered through mainframe and GUI

interfaces

• Using scripts to convert FrameMaker files to XML topics

• Researching, analyzing, and organizing technical material into cohesive

documentation

• Managing multiple projects simultaneously and remaining productive in

the face of changing requirements and timelines

• Working with an editor to conform to legal and style guidelines

• Working on related technical writing projects, as needed

Position Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (English, technical writing,

journalism, communications, or computer science) preferred

• Strong writing, proofing/editing, and verbal communication skills

• Strong analytical and project management skills – must be detail-oriented

• Ability to meet deadlines and manage own work both independently and as

part of a team

• Mainframe software knowledge highly preferable

• Familiarity with XML, HTML, XMetaL Author, Adobe FrameMaker, and content

repositories a plus
