Whether you’re writing a literary novel or easy-reader children’s book, a science fiction movie script or flash fiction, your job is to hook your readers with an intriguing beginning, increasingly engage your readers as your story develops, and give them a satisfying and evocative sensation of closure at your story’s end. In this workshop you’ll do several exercises, write in short productive spurts, and cover everything from the basics of storyboarding and narrative structure to sophisticated techniques for generating dramatic suspense. You’ll learn the differences between storytelling styles; strengthen your ability to build a spectacular beginning, middle and end; and fortify your understanding of plot, drama, narrative arc, story architecture and more. Open to all levels, all genres.
